Welcome to Fenikstrumpets.com
The modern trumpet as we know it today appeared around 1910. Developed in an era where there were no big bands, no pop music, no written parts where high G’s are more common than an exception. The trumpets back in those times were made for the music of the day. So it’s quite remarkable that now we’re 100 years further, the trumpet has changed very little or not all. There are even major factories trying to build instruments as they were built in the ‘1930’s and ‘1950’s .. And all that to play today’s contemporary music.
A radical new design, made entirely by hand by the best German craftsmen, a trumpet made today for today’s music. At first glance you can’t see that: all the FENIKS models share the same very basic sober design. There is not one part on a FENIKS that doesn’t have a function. If it doesn’t have a function, it’s not on the horn! The instruments are designed and developed from the players point of view. The right piece of equipment for every job. You notice it the moment you pick up a FENIKS trumpet. The instrumental balance is superb, the finish is flawless and you feel instantly at home when you put it to your mouth. Almost every major instrument manufacturer tries to give his horns an even sound in the lower as well as in the upper register.
The FENIKS has a different character in the upper register than in the low register. Why? Because high notes have a different character than low notes. A FENIKS is bright, aggressive and fat with a lot of overtones in the upper register yet without the sound thinning out and it has a warm and very full sound in the middle and low register.
The FENIKS trumpets have several visible and non-visible innovations. One of them, which is very visible, is the “virtual brace” on the Hades model. The balls on the upper and lower leg of the tuning slide works as a fixed brace, without it’s drawbacks. So, you have improved stability, focus and projection without any loss of flexibility. The completely newly developed leadpipe and tuning slide that support playing in the upper register is another innovation, as is the altered venturi in the bottom leg of the leadpipe. The player experiences an ease in the upper register that he or she has never before encountered.
Do not underestimate the influence of the finish of an instrument. Feniks trumpets are only available in the finishes you can find in our pricelist. The instruments are extensively tested in various finishes and situations and it turned out that only the available finishes works best for that specific model.
For example,
the silverplating on the Hades model adds some aggresiveness to the sound which is necessary for the nature of that instrument. Goldplating, glasspearlblasting or scratching, which makes the sound more mellow, would make it a kind of a toothless tiger. On the other hand, goldplating gives the Aeolus model a depth in the sound that silverplating can't offer.
So do not bother ordering a finish that is not available for that specific model.
Feniks does not compromise on the quality of the instruments just for the looks of it. Sorry.
